to protect the site and it's users. Forum Guidelines We're very relaxed at Dating Advice Forums. We know that different people have different personalities, so it's ok to be 100% yourself here, whether it's funny, thoughtful, sarcastic, serious, silly, or all of the above. Many of our members have known each other for years, and many have met in person. We are a close-knit group, but we always welcome new members. For the most part, all we ask is that you treat your fellow forum members with respect, and think before you post. Here's some rules and just general stuff to know about the forums: 1) You must register to post messages. You'll need to use a valid email address when you register. A confirmation email will be sent to you, and you will not be able to post until you click a link in that email. Make sure you use a valid email address. 2) This is not a dating service. This is just a place to talk about dating. While it's true that some members of this site have met in real life and dated, that is not the purpose of the site. 3) Private Messages and avatars are disabled when you first sign up. Accounts are enabled after a new member has been registerd for seven days and has made at least 10 posts. This is just to keep spammers and flamers from bothering members. If a member has shown suspicious or unfavorable behavior, private messages and avatar privledges may not be given. 4) Spamming and advertising is not tolerated. If you want to plug some service, ask about advertising information. We do not allow people to post threads or to send private messages or emails to users here that advertise any products or services. Links to commercial, business or competing sites (ie, dating services or advice sites) are not allowed - in posts, profiles or sig lines - without prior consent from the administrators. These posts will be edited and/or deleted and may lead to banning. 5) This forum is for adults only. While we do not allow pornographic content, we do often engage in adult conversation that may not be appropriate for young or sensitive readers. We ask all members to be over the age of 18. Exceptions may be made at the forum leaders' discretion. 6) There are a handful of moderators who help keep the forums running smoothly. If you need to contact a mod or administrator, contact us via the Forum Leaders page. 7) Be respectful of fellow members. We understand that a public forum such as this is going to attract a lot of different people, with different opinions on topics. But that doesn't mean you can attack others. Personal attacks will not be tolerated, and may lead to banning. The forum administrators will decide what is inappropriate. 8) Personal Information: Keep in mind that this is a public forum that gets a good deal of traffic daily, and that any number of people could read what you post. Do not post personal information, such as full names, email addresses, phone numbers, or home/business addresses. If you feel the need to disclose this information, do it in a private message or email via the forum email system. Posts containing personal information will be edited. 9) Be Courteous: Post in the appropriate forum, and don't cross-post (posting the same message multiple times). Even if a particular forum does not seem as "active" as another, it will get read and get the same amount of replies. Post in a manner that is easy for others to read. Use proper capitalization, punctuation and paragraph breaks. 10) Language & Explicit Content: We don't put any bans on certain words at this time, but we do not allow overly vulgar, obscene, or explicit language. Use your better judgement... Swear words are fine, talking about delicate, including sexual, issues is also fine, but stuff that belongs in Penthouse Letters is not. We also do not allow links to pornographic, warez, or hate sites of any kind. Think of it this way, your boss, or your mother, may be reading this. 11) In Addition: The administrators and moderators of Dating Advice Forums reserves the right to move or remove any post or topic at their discretion. We also reserve the right to suspend your membership if we feel you've violated these guidelines. Dating Advice Forums reserves the right to change this policy at any time. |
